The Carlton & Chellington Parish consists of 874 inhabitants the majority of whom live in Carlton where the main facilities are. The village is surrounded by stunning countryside walks and bridal ways. You can see plenty of people out walking or running for leisure and children hunting for signs of wildlife in the fields that surround us. For the more adventurous there are numerous cycling routes and many a cyclist club can be seen passing through the village on a weekend probably via the country park for some refreshments.

The village itself has a strong community feel to it with fund raising events held in the Village Hall. While the local shop and Post Office is used to provide local information and sale of tickets for events. It is also the most likely place to go when you’ve lost your car keys/glasses/binoculars!

The shop stocks fresh fruit & vegetables, bread, local produces and the normal consumables. We have the choice of two pubs The Fox and The Royal Oak both of which host various events and serve food. We also have Emmaus Village which brings numerous visitors into the Village and is a place to visit to find various items of second hand clothing, furniture and many more things.

The village is very proud of Carlton VC Lower School awarded outstanding in 2012/2013 it has also achieved the ultimate Eco Award, the Green Flag for the third time running. The school has a wonderful feel to it with a vibrant PTFA that hosts events throughout the year, which includes Open Days advertised through the school website and at the local shop – a must if you like delicious cake!

Our unique character stems from our community and our heritage of having a rural feel, openness and access to enjoy our open spaces and countryside. It is our heritage that we aim to protect as we pull together as a community to develop our Neighbourhood Plan.
